I am Yuta Iwai, the operator of Joyful Japan Journey in Japan. This notice covers joyfuljapanjourney.com and the booking service at jjj-booking.onrender.com.

How Google uses information from sites and apps

Your choice comes first

Website analytics and advertising measurement are optional. Google measurement is blocked until you allow it. You can reject it and still view the website, make a booking and pay. Use Privacy settings to change or withdraw your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops future measurement; it does not cancel your booking or undo processing that took place before withdrawal.

Booking and enquiries

I use the contact details, tour date, group size, language, meeting information and preferences you provide to answer your enquiry, arrange your tour, process payment and send booking confirmations. Please do not enter information that is unnecessary for your tour. Details needed to arrange and confirm a booking are necessary to provide that service. Optional preferences can be left blank.

Where the GDPR applies, processing needed to respond to your booking request or perform your booking is based on Article 6(1)(b). Accounting records are kept to meet applicable legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c). Hosting, booking security and retaining evidence of your privacy choice serve the legitimate interests of operating a secure service and documenting compliance under Article 6(1)(f).

Optional analytics and advertising measurement

With your consent, Google Analytics records page visits and booking steps, browser/device information, cookie identifiers and information about where a visit came from. If you complete a measured booking, I send Google the booking reference, purchase time, tour type, quantity, currency and value. I do not send your name, email, phone number, free-text requests or private payment links as Analytics event data.

If you also allow advertising measurement, Google may associate ad clicks with these events to measure Google Ads results. I do not use these events for personalised advertising or remarketing. The legal basis for these optional purposes, where applicable, is your consent under Article 6(1)(a). If you refuse, these optional events are not collected by this website. Actual booking records are maintained separately so that your booking can still be fulfilled.

Cookies, consent records and retention

• The booking service uses a necessary session cookie to protect requests. Its lifetime is two hours.
• Your privacy choice is remembered for 180 days. A random receipt reference is stored in your browser to retrieve the choice and pass it between the website and booking service. A new or unverifiable browser may ask again.
• The choice, time, language and notice shown are recorded in the booking database. Consent evidence is removed from the active database after 365 days. It is not used for advertising profiles.
• Google Analytics cookies created by this implementation are configured for up to 180 days without automatic extension. Advertising measurement may also use Google advertising cookies, depending on the features enabled.
• In this Analytics property, event data retention is set to two months and user data retention to 14 months. The user retention period resets on new user activity. These limits do not apply to most aggregated standard reports.
• Booking, payment and correspondence records are retained for the time needed to provide the tour, handle cancellations or disputes, and meet applicable accounting requirements. The relevant tour date, any open claim and legal obligations determine that period. Privacy choices do not erase booking records. Contact me about access or deletion.
• On the booking server, identifiers used to link a booking to Google Analytics are removed after successful delivery or when delivery is stopped, and otherwise within seven days. Pending purchase delivery is attempted for at most 71 hours. After that, only the booking reference and delivery status are kept with the booking to prevent duplicates; the measurement payload is removed.

Security backups may retain removed records until the backup is replaced. On the booking server, the automatic backup routine keeps seven daily backups. Manual exports and providers' operational logs have separate purposes and retention arrangements.

Service providers and international processing

The website is hosted by Netlify and the booking application by Render. Payments are processed by Stripe; card details are entered on Stripe's checkout, not in my booking database. Booking emails use Resend. Optional measurement uses Google. These services may receive the technical or service data needed for their respective tasks.

I operate in Japan. Service providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. Their linked notices describe their processing locations and transfer safeguards. You can contact me for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.

WhatsApp, Google Maps, Instagram and review sites are external services. Their own notices apply when you follow a link or send them information. Opening WhatsApp does not automatically send the message; you decide whether to send it there.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local data protection authority. I may need information to verify a request. Some records must be retained to meet legal obligations. This service does not make automated decisions that determine your eligibility or have similarly significant effects.

For consent changes, use Privacy settings on either site. If a save fails, measurement stops on that page and the screen asks you to retry so that the server can also apply your withdrawal. If you use another device or have cleared your browser storage, contact me to address an earlier record.
